My blog's Doppelgänger is a Missionary Service?

` I must say that I'm a tad offended because... well, The Swill Man found something that I found to be first bizzare and then irritating:

I accidentally typed in your blog's URL as
http://seequine.blogpsot.com/. Turns out there's a real site there-
check out what it is!

` My response:

` WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!??!?!?!!

` And, so I wrote them an e-mail:

` A friend of mine accidentally typed in my URL - seequine.blogspot.com - as seequine.blogpsot.com. I got that URL because S E E Quine is my pen name and blogspot is my blog host.
` I want you to tell me how you got your URL, as I suspect that it is simply a corruption of mine. If that's the case, I want you to tell me why you did it.

` Yes, why? I mean, it seems very unlikely that they would use that URL unless it was deliberate, and no, I don't think it's unreasonable that I'm inferring deliberate design ;) Seriously, I suspect that what is going on here is that someone noted that I don't approve of extreme usage of Christianity (or any other religion) and decided to use a probable-enough typo of my URL (one that I've even typed before) in protest.
` ...If that is the case, then; why me? I mean, my blog is not that widely read, so the only people that would be effective on would be just that crowd. I can't say what their deal is, really.

` I await their response....

` UPDATE: In the comments section below, you will see that Joey has uncovered a key insight into this explanation.... It didn't even occur to me that it was technologically possible to have so many thousands of URLs for one web site!

Imposters--nay, charlatans! How dare they slight thy name?

Let us hope for their sake that they are able to explain this! Otherwise, I suspect, absolutely nothing will happen!

Hm...Spoony, I did some more tinkering with the URL's, and it turns out that site apparently bought up all the domain names on "blogpsot.com" (sic). I typed in my own blog's URL's with that mispelling (http://dandydude.blogpsot.com and http://swillbored.blogpsot.com) and they go to the same page. Try it with any BlogSpot URL and the same thing should happen.

Don't worry! The Christians aren't after you!

` Good work, Joey! I was so wound up and needing to get out the door quickly that I didn't even think of doing that!

` I wonder how they stole every URL like that - it doesn't appear to just be redirecting you. I've also noticed that just typing blogpsot.com does the same thing.
` I wonder if there's a convertor of some kind that looks at all the registered URLs with the word 'blogspot' in them and just converts them to 'blogpsot' and somehow sticks them to their website or something. Or; does it create a mirror site?

` However they're doing it, I think it's rather clever, if obnoxious.

that's bizarre...i wonder if they're generating any followers of blogspot because of that....

Wow! With a tactic like this, I'd expect at least a few....

That's underhanded, shady, and less than honest. Sounds like something you might expect from Nociceptor.

` Denny - That's exactly my most annoysome beef with that... if someone should type my address wrong, they'd be like; "I didn't know Spoony was so obsessed with the bible!"
` But I guess that happens to everyone equally, so....

` Tallguy - well, that's interesting... although Food Planet does not have a separate URL each time; it just redirects you to one specific URL.
` Seriously, I'd rather people do something like that because it is less misleading as to the nature of people's websites.
